Pilot Response

Scope of Work:

Please review this scope of work, accept or deny, and submit it via our webpage before flying the mission. Failure to adhere to specifications may result in the need to re-fly the mission before payments are made.

Please review all provided information and watch the linked instructional videos if further guidance is needed. For any additional clarifications, do not hesitate to ask. Our goal is to make this process as efficient and easy as possible for both our pilots and operations teams. Be sure to go through the Deliverables checklist to ensure all data is collected.

Pay:

Please review this scope of work, sign, and submit it via our webpage before flying the mission. The rate we pay per square foot is based on the actual square footage scanned, not the total square footage of the entire property. For example, if there is a 300,000 sqft apartment building and we ask you to scan one of each of the three floor plans totaling 4,000 sqft, we will ensure that approximately 4,000 sqft is scanned. If 7,000 sqft is scanned, we will pay for 4,000 sqft. If 3,000 sqft is scanned, we will pay for 3,000 sqft. This ensures the job scope is followed precisely.

The pilot will receive payment once the media has been delivered and has passed QC by the RCG operations team. Payment can generally be expected 14 days after media delivery. The pilot must sign and agree to all terms of the Pilot Agreement.

--VERY IMPORTANT--

Our max payout is $1,500. If any project exceeds $1,500, the fee structure hits a ceiling of $1,500.

Here is why: We use these calculations to automate and streamline our processes. From time to time there is a project where the calculations throw the budget out the window. We understand this may not be an ideal job to select and there is no ill will for denying a job.

We also have team members who can catch a flight, rent a car, and hotel for under $1,500. We will choose that for each project over $1,500.

Thank you for your understand on this matter.

Instructions for the Mission

Download the “Matterport Capture” and “Drone Deploy” apps.

Matterport:

Login for Matterport account:

Name the Project: RCGV######-Last Name-Address

Firmiliarize yourself with the Matterport Camera and software. Below are a few links to provide you with guidance on the use and uploading of the Matterport tools

All Matterport data will be uploaded into the Matterport account.

If you need assistance in uploading the Matterport data: Click here for a step by step process.

The Exterior 360 corner scans of the building will be uploaded into the “Space” that you scan on the interior as a 360 scan.

Good Scan // Bad Scan

Here is an example of a bad scan: What you see here is a lot of black space. The black indicates the camera did not scan that section of the building. Inevitably, there will be some sections of almost every scan that have a black section. However, this is obviously excessive. Due to our time restraints we have to use this scan for our client, but it is almost unusable and is certainly not up to our standards.

Good scan.png

Here is an example of a quality scan.  Ignoring the external scanning, which is used as a back up to the drone scan. You can see the clearly delineated rooms. There are also some black spots, however it is obvious there are closets or space behind the walls. This space is easy for the system to identify and quantify.

Drone Scan:

Use of the DroneDeploy App is free and you may want to make your own accounts if you choose. We no longer process our data via Drone Deploy, however their App is the best available to making and scanning the maps

Map creation is the responsiblity of the Pilot

If you have worked with us in the past, you will know this is a change from the past. Because we no longer process via DroneDeploy, we no longer have a central processing account. Below is video of our SOP maps being made in the Drone Deploy App. We also include step by step instructions as well.

Step 1: Locate the name of the project.

This is an important step to name the project exactly as instructed. Our automated system will be looking for the exact match of the uploaded project. Any mismatch can result in delays of payment

Step 2: Open the DroneDeploy App

You may use your exact location if on-site or use the address to start creating the project. Once you have found the the property on the map click the blue button 'Create Project.' Here is where you should paste the exact name of the project and save.

Step 3: Create 2 Standard Map Plans

The first map plan is a ~75 ft flight using the stucture link at the bottom of the list. (if this is not there just select the 3D toggle switch) The green square around 'Site' in the image below is a good model to follow. On the screen you should see a map that has a ring around map plan.

The second map paln is an ~200 ft flight over the entire property. This should be easliy identified from the visual line on the map and comparing the area of the map (in acres) to the assigned scope of work acres.

Step 4: Connect your drone and fly the missions

You need to connect your drone to you phone or tablet. If you have prepared your drone with the most up to date firmware, you should be able to open the dji app and dronedeploy app without issue. Once conneted the green 'Flight Check' button in the bottom right corner. Once the flight check is complete, the drone will take off and start the first mission. In the top right hand corner, you can add the second flight plan to the current plan.

Step 5: Finish the flight plans and change batteries as necessary

DO NOT MANUALLY FLY THE FLIGHT PLAN. The software will take off, fly, capture the right photos, and land without any over-ride from the pilot. This is important because the images and overlap are important to the quality of the scan. If you need to make a battery change, the software will bring the drone back to the home point and land. When you swap the battery, the dronedeploy app will automatically ask you to 'continue the misssion' select that button. You will once again have to do the flight check and the drone will resume exactly where it left off. Once the flight plans are completed, the drone deploy app will give you the option to 'Upload Now' or 'Upload Later.' You will select 'Upload Later.'

Here are three (3) examples of improper scans

If the scans are done impropery no payment for the drone scan will be made.
It's easy to understand, let the drone do the work and get paid.
Try to do the work yourself, and lose out on payment.
